What Will Muschamp said after excruciating loss to North Carolina

Will Muschamp recapped South Carolina’s very disappointing 24-20 loss to North Carolina on Saturday as the Gamecocks were outscored 18-7 in the second half.
QB Jake Bentley threw two interceptions in the closing minutes, and the Gamecocks were just 3-for-12 on third down conversions. Muschamp elected to not go for it on fourth down late in the game near midfield, and North Carolina went on to score on the ensuing drive.
Muschamp said in his post-game comments that he lamented the poor tackling, penalties and two 90-plus yard scoring drives for North Carolina that proved to be the difference.
There will no doubt be questions from media and fans about the quarterback position and whether Bentley should be replaced by Ryan Hilinski or Dakereon Joyner.
Here’s what else Muschamp told reporters:
Muschamp on punting on the fourth-and-1: “I felt comfortable about our defense and obviously I was wrong.”

Muschamp: “A lot to improve on and we certainly will”

Muschamp on the backup QB question: “We just need to go back and evaluate at all positions right now.”

On 4th and 1, Muschamp said a 95-yard drive should simply not be something a team allows.
