What Zach Arnett said after Mississippi State’s loss to Kentucky
By Mark Kern
Published:
The offense has been an issue for the Mississippi State Bulldogs all season, and that was once again the case on Saturday night against Kentucky. The Bulldogs could muster only 218 total yards of offense in the 24-3 loss to the Wildcats in Starkville.
It was especially difficult on the ground for Mississippi State, as the team rushed the ball 31 times for 73 yards. In the last 2 losses to Kentucky and Auburn, the Bulldogs have scored 16 points. The offensive struggles have hurt the team all year, and coach Zach Arnett talked about trying to get the offense going in any capacity. He also talked about whether or not Will Rogers will be back at any point.
Arnett also explained the spark from Chris Parson.
Zach Arnett on Chris Parson:
"I think he did a nice job coming in and providing a spark. Pushed the ball down the field…He has some mobility and kept plays alive. He is going to learn a lot from this film."

Zach Arnett says Will Rogers has progressed well and has been part of practice. When he's cleared to play, he'll play.
Arnett acknowledges the desire Rogers has to play in the Egg Bowl, but notes that it would be nice to have him back before then, too. https://t.co/SpSzV6zdSv

Zach Arnett said that Parson was available for only emergency purposes the past few games.
"Now he got his opportunity tonight"

On the broadcast, @tom_hart said Will Rogers guaranteed he'd be back by the Egg Bowl, "even if my arm fell off."

Arnett hopes the offense can get things going fast, as there isn’t much time to become bowl eligible. Up next for the Bulldogs is a Texas A&M team that is also battling for a bowl game. With a game against Southern Mississippi the following week, that could set up the stage for the Bulldogs needing to beat Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl to become bowl eligible.
Kickoff next weekend against Texas A&M is at 7:30 pm ET, and that game will be shown on ESPN2.
