Quarterback. It’s easily the most important position in college football, and there have been several programs that have consistently produced great quarterbacks through the years.

At one time, many felt BYU might stand out as QBU, but that’s probably not the case anymore.

On this week’s edition of “Always College Football,” analysts Greg McElroy and Mark Kubiak took on the question of which program right now should be considered QBU.

“If I had to go QBU, because of my era that I was living in, i would probably go with (USC),” McElroy said. “But I’m not sure. There’s are a lot of schools that can make a claim for QBU.”

Kubiak, however, was quick to dismiss the Trojans, although he did admit that personal bias played a role.

Instead, Kubiak went with McElroy’s alma mater, Alabama.

“Being a Notre Dame fan, I can’t accept (USC) whatsoever,” Kubiak said. “Currently, I would actually say it’s Alabama. Look at everybody in the league and how many players have been drafted.

The duo also singled out Oklahoma as a program that could stake a claim to being QBU.

Miami was also mentioned but then quickly discounted.
