Who needs a trainer? Quinnen Williams turned to YouTube to workout in the offseason

Working out is a big part of the offseason for athletes of all kinds. In between camps, practices and OTAs, many players work out with private trainers. Quinnen Williams did not see the need to shell out for a big-name personal trainer.
“I just worked out on my own — I can YouTube everything,” Williams told reporters Friday. “I don’t really have to go pay a superstar super-performance dude. I can use YouTube and just do it. On the field, you can’t take a performance coach with you, so I used YouTube a lot and did a lot of stuff that we do here over and over.”
While it might be an uncommon approach, it apparently got the job done. Dennis Waszak Jr. notes that Williams appeared to be in “terrific shape” when he arrived Friday at New York Jets camp. Waszak also writes that Jets coach Adam Gase said Williams “crushed” his conditioning test.
“I’m just ready to perform,” Williams told reporters. “I feel way better than I was in college; I feel way stronger, way faster and way more flexible.”
It sure sounds like the YouTube workout method worked. More on Williams’ offseason training can be found in the Associated Press article linked in the embedded tweet below.
Jets rookie Quinnen Williams passed on paying for a big-name personal trainer during the offseason.
Instead, he used YouTube videos to help him prepare for his first year in the NFL.
