Wide receiver C.J. Worton will miss Saturday’s season opener against UMass, head coach Jim McElwain revealed Wednesday.

Worton was listed as the team’s third string wide receiver on the left side behind Antonio Callaway and Josh Hammond. The junior caught four passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns in 2015.

McElwain noted that defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. pulled himself out of practice but should be fine for Saturday’s game. The coach also revealed freshman Khairi Clark suffered an ankle injury Wednesday.
