Will Anderson Jr. and C.J. Stroud were both selected by the Houston Texans within one pick of each other on Thursday. Stroud discussed what it was like as a bystander.

Stroud was taken at No. 2 overall and had just given an interview and was greeting fans when he saw that the Texans had traded up to No. 3. Stroud stated that was the moment he knew who was going to be picked next.

“I just got picked so I go and do the interview,” said Stroud. “I go say what’s up to the Texans fans. I look up and see that the pick is in and I see that it’s the Texans. I was like ‘I just got picked, that can’t be true. Oh shoot they’re fixing to go get Will.'”

The former Ohio State QB described himself as “super stoked” after realizing what was about to happen.

“I had the biggest smile on my face. I was super stoked. Me and Will have known each other since high school,” said Stroud. “We played against each other in the All-American Bowl. He couldn’t sack me then, so we’ll see if he can now.”

Anderson played in 41 total games for the Crimson Tide. He finished his Alabama career with 204 total tackles, 58.5 tackles for loss, and 34.5 sacks.
