Former Florida and West Virginia quarterback Will Grier has been claimed off waivers by the Dallas Cowboys, only 1 day after he was released by the Carolina Panthers.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Grier completed 22-of-31 passes for 222 yards without a touchdown or interception in 3 preseason games, Metro News reported. He also rushed 7 times for 32 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown in the finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Grier, 26, did not see action in 2020, but started 2 games in 2019 and struggled then as a rookie. He was 28-for-52 with 228 yards and threw 4 interceptions without a touchdown.
Grier was a third-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2019.
Cowboys have claimed ex-Panthers QB Will Grier on waivers. That gives team three QBs on the roster between Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush. We’ll see what, if anything, this means for Rush’s place on 53. Rush likely to be active Week 1 as Grier learns offense.
