Will Levis may not be heading too far from Lexington to play in the NFL. An ESPN insider shared Sunday that there is “league-wide buzz” on the Indianapolis Colts potentially drafting the Kentucky quarterback.
Jeremy Fowler appeared on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” Sunday. During his appearance, Fowler discussed why there is chatter about the Colts taking Levis at No. 4 overall.
“Will Levis and the Colts, there is a little bit of buzz leaguewide about that pairing at No. 4 overall,” Fowler said, per Bleacher Report. “I texted with Kentucky coach Mark Stoops, who coached Levis for a few years with the Wildcats, he said, ‘I can just say the Colts have done their homework on Levis’ and left it at that.
“Now, they’ve done their homework on a lot of guys, but I talked to several teams who believe that there could be something there. He fits the prototype of what the Colts have typically liked in a quarterback. They like that big, sturdy, pocket-passer. So, he’s got that in spades. He’s not for everybody. Not every team has loved his makeup or the way he plays, but he’s got a lot of supporters as well.”
Quarterbacks have dominated the 2023 pre-draft storylines. There has been an ongoing debate surrounding the draft order of Levis, Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young and CJ Stroud. Saturday Down South’s Matt Hayes recently talked about to 3 NFL scouts about the 3 top QB prospects from the SEC. One scout tabbed Levis as having the highest ceiling of the SEC QBs.
Levis entered the 2022 season with plenty of NFL Draft hype. After strong showings at the NFL Scouting Combine and Kentucky’s Pro Day, his draft stock remains high.
The 2023 NFL Draft’s first round is scheduled for Thursday, April 27.
