South Carolina’s ground game could be getting a boost in Week 10.
Will Muschamp announced on Thursday that freshman RB Kevin Harris has been cleared to play on Saturday when the Gamecocks face Vanderbilt.
“Kevin Harris will play this week,” Muschamp said on his weekly radio show, per Gamecocks Central. “He practiced some Tuesday and then practiced Wednesday and then looked good again today. He’s coming off a sports hernia on five weeks.”
Against Charleston Southern, Harris carried the ball six times for 147 yards and 3 touchdowns. His last appearance was when South Carolina played Alabama on Sept. 14.
South Carolina is looking to bounce back from back-to-back SEC losses. Vanderbilt, the Gamecocks’ Saturday opponent, is ranked last in the SEC in rushing defense, allowing 202.14 rushing yards per game on an average of 37.43 carries (5.40 yards per carry). This week, Muschamp said that RB Rico Dowdle, second on the team in carries (78) and rushing yards (457), will be out Week 10.
Saturday’s game from Williams-Brice Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and will air on the SEC Network.
