Players being able to appear in up to four games and still take a redshirt on the season has changed how coaches handle playing time, particularly with freshmen.
DT Josh Belk, who transferred from Clemson, has appeared in four games this season. If he plays against Arkon on Saturday or in the bowl game (the Gamecocks are bowl eligible at 6-5), he will not be able to take a redshirt for 2018.
On his Sunday teleconference, South Carolina coach Will Muschamp said he will play Belk in the next two games. Belk was the No. 7 defensive tackle and No. 2 recruit from the state of South Carolina in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports Composite. Belk enrolled at Clemson and participated in spring drills before choosing to transfer to South Carolina.
