If South Carolina is going to take care of business and defeat Appalachian State on Saturday, the Gamecocks will have to do it without running back Tavien Feaster.

On his weekly Thursday night show, Carolina Calls, South Carolina coach Will Muschamp ruled out Feaster for Saturday’s matchup.

“Feaster will be out for this game,” Muschamp said. “I think we have a shot to get him back next week (against Texas A&M).”

This can’t come as much of a surprise, as Feaster didn’t practice this week because of a groin injury. Although the Mountaineers did beat North Carolina, who the Gamecocks lost against, South Carolina might not miss him that badly against Appalachian State. However, the Gamecocks would definitely like Feaster back for their last two games against Texas A&M and Clemson.

The good news, though, is Dowdle, who is dealing with a knee ailment, will be able to suit up.

Fester has 625 rushing yards and five touchdowns while averaging 5.6 yards per carry. He also has 79 receiving yards on 13 receptions.

Dowdle should be able to fill in admirably. He has 457 rushing yards and four touchdowns while posting 5.9 yards per carry. Dowdle also has 11 catches and 78 receiving yards.
