When Will Muschamp accepted the head coaching job at South Carolina, it was guaranteed that the annual meeting with Florida was going to be a big deal during game week. Muschamp, after all, coached at Florida from 2011-14.
With the 2014 recruiting class being the last Muschamp signed at UF, Saturday’s game will be the final time Coach Boom faces young men who played for him at Florida. This week, Florida beat reporters, including 247Sports’ Thomas Goldkamp, talked to some of the six remaining Gators players who were part of the 2014 squad.
“It’s going to be a fun weekend, especially with all the guys that we’ve (been) coached (by) or played here for: coach (Mark) Campbell, strength staff guy, Mike (Peterson), he’s with the linebackers over there, George Wynn and even coach Muschamp,” H-back/TE R.J. Raymond told the media. “Coach (Muschamp’s) got a bunch of people that were here with me. So it’s going to be fun seeing all those guys for the last time playing against them.”
Raymond, along with TE C’yontai Lewis, TE Moral Stephens, OL Kavaris Harkless, DT Khairi Clark and K Jorge Powell, are playing for their third coach in their fifth year at Florida. After this year, if Muschamp is still at South Carolina, his last ties to the UF roster will be in players he recruited, but did not sign.
