South Carolina’s 3-9 record in 2015 was a disappointment no matter how you look at it.

But as the 2016 season approaches, new coach Will Muschamp must help the returning players move on and focus on getting back on track.

That was the main point of his message to reporters after South Carolina’s second day of fall practice:

“It’s a new football team this year,” Muschamp says. “If you continue to do the same things, you’ll get the same results. We needed to change some things. Our players have really bought into what we’re trying to do. I’ve been really pleased with it.”

After ending 2015 with five straight losses, the Gamecocks will start 2016 with a chance to get off to a good start in SEC play.

South Carolina’s first game is at Vanderbilt on Thursday, Sept. 1. The next Saturday, the Gamecocks travel to Mississippi State.
