Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers has been named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week. The award is presented each week to the best-performing signal-caller in the nation.
In the 42-24 victory over the No. 17-ranked Texas A&M Aggies, Rogers completed 31-of-45 passes for 329 yards and 3 touchdowns. This showing is his 4th 300-yard game of the season and he leads the nation in passing yards (8,430) and is third in passing touchdowns (66). The two closest runner-ups in the Facebook voting for the contest were Adrian Martinez (Kansas State) and Frank Harris (UTSA).
Now ranked at No. 23 in the nation, the Bulldogs have the chance to perhaps improve significantly further than that as they face the No. 25-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks.
Rogers is among the 30 quarterbacks who were selected for the Manning Award watch list in the preseason, and should be considered a rising prospect with serious 2023 NFL Draft potential moving forward. And he’s in a good position to do so as long as he stays on this same trajectory as the Bulldogs continue to work through what was projected to be the nation’s toughest schedule.
