The Kentucky football team is in the midst of spring practice sessions before the 2026 season – the first under new coach Will Stein, who replaced long-time coach Mark Stoops in December.
Stein has adopted a “blue and white” squad approach with the Wildcats, ditching a fixed depth chart to maximize player development and evaluate talent combinations during the spring sessions. And among the facets Stein has been most impressed with is his team’s offensive line.
“If there’s a current strength to our offense, it’s the offensive line,” Stein told reporters after Saturday’s workout. “And we made a major emphasis to bring in people.”
Competition is particularly crisp at tackle, with Olaus Alinen, Malachi Wood, and UTEP transfer Mark Robinson competing for spots alongside experienced starters like center Coleton Price.
New offensive line coach Cutter Leftwich has embraced the more fluid approach to where and with whom players work beside.
“I think it’s a really good thing because I think you get different people playing next to different people, testing people’s communication,” Leftwich said earlier this week. “Somebody might play really good next to somebody, but that communication might be better playing next to somebody else. I think the communication aspect really ramps up the more you mix up the groups.”
