Taggart, a reported candidate at South Carolina, staying at South Florida
South Florida’s coach Willie Taggart has been rumored for several head coaching jobs, one of which is at South Carolina, but that’s all they were, just rumors.
Athletic director Mark Harlan said on Saturday that Taggart has reached an agreement in principle on a five-year extension that will keep the coach with the Bulls through the 2020 season.
Taggart, currently in his third season with the Bulls, is in the middle of an 8-4 season with the school. He’ll attempt to lead South Florida to its first nine-win season since 2007 in the team’s bowl game.
