Win over Mississippi State gives Alabama back-to-back SEC, ranked shutouts for first time in decades

Sometimes it feels like Nick Saban’s Alabama teams have achieved everything possible. Saturday proved there truly is a first time for everything.
For first time since 1980, Alabama has notched back-to-back shutouts against SEC teams. Even more impressive, the shutouts came against teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. Alabama had not pulled that off since 1944.
While much of the media buzz surrounding Alabama this season has focused on Tua Tagovailoa and the high-powered offense, the Crimson Tide defense has reminded everyone the last two weeks that it is definitely one of the country’s best units (if not the best).
With the way the offense and defense are both playing, Alabama looks unbeatable (when healthy).
