LSU opened practice for the media for the first time in-season in years on Monday as interim coach Ed Orgeron conducted a 30-minute, high-energy walk thru — an experience the players had never had before, considering they are used to these being 90-120 minutes long.

It was electric. And per Tiger Blitz, it’s in an attempt to keep the players fresher for game days.

“I’m for it. I’m getting older now,” said offensive lineman Will Clapp. “More time in the meeting room to become more cerebral as a team. We’re going to get off our feet more and be faster on Saturdays. The whole goal is to win on Saturdays.”

The new schedule is dedicated to ‘peaking on Saturdays.’

“I’ve never known anything but practicing like that. Coach O knows what he’s doing,” said quarterback Danny Etling, who acknowledged that the team has responded well to the new style. “He’s had a lot of success and we’ve got to trust him. We’re going to keep moving forward with him as our head coach.”

We’ll find out soon enough if the new approach works, as LSU welcomes 2-2 Missouri to Death Valley this weekend at 6:30 p.m. CT.
