With Paul Finebaum out, Iron Bowl talk on his show takes out-of-this-world turn
The Paul Finebaum Show occasionally produces bizarre moments courtesy of fired-up callers, but on Friday, things got weird thanks to one of the program’s guests.
With Finebaum off for part of his show, Tony Barnhart chatted with ESPN analyst Trevor Matich about Saturday’s Iron Bowl. Matich, like many, is quite confident in Alabama’s chances, but his scenario for an Auburn win was something we definitely didn’t see coming.
“Literally, if a spaceship comes down and abducts the entire Alabama team, (then) Auburn would have a chance,” he told Barnhart.
#FinebaumFriday@TMatich tells us the only way Auburn has a chance vs. Bama is … alien abduction?

The top-ranked Crimson Tide has looked like the best team in the country all year and is favored by more than three touchdowns against its rival, but alien abduction being the Tigers’ only path to victory is pretty extreme. Teams have won against greater odds without extraterrestrial assistance, after all.
Who knows, maybe the aliens are Auburn fans.
