Xavier Worthy snaps Patrick Mahomes’ wild drought with 54-yard TD vs. Chargers

Xavier Worthy was talked about a ton after his incredible performance at the 2024 NFL Combine. He ran the fastest 40-yard dash in history at 4.21, and that speed was a big reason why the Kansas City Chiefs took him 28th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
After scoring 2 touchdowns in the Chiefs’ season-opening win against the Baltimore Ravens, Worthy had been relatively quiet the last 2 weeks.
With the Chiefs trailing the Los Angeles Chargers 10-0 late in the second quarter on Sunday, the former Texas star once again showed what a game-breaker he truly is by catching a 54-yard pass for a touchdown.
Mahomes had gone 30 games without a TD pass of 50+ yards before this one!

That pass was a welcome sight for Chiefs fans, as it was the type of big play that Patrick Mahomes and the offense used to do on a regular basis. That touchdown was the first 50+ yard touchdown for Mahomes in his last 31 games.
That isn’t a coincidence as the team traded superstar receiver Tyreek Hill 2 years ago. Worthy was brought in to bring back the explosive play aspect, and for 1 play on Sunday, he did just that.
