The XFL on Wednesday moved one step closer to returning when it revealed the eight home venues for its 2020 comeback season.
Among the sites are four stadiums currently used by NFL teams, a bold move for the organization aiming to challenge the sport’s primary professional league. The XFL lasted just one season in 2001, and it appears the league is going after major media markets for its reboot.
“After months of research and consideration, we’re thrilled to announce the cities and venues of the XFL’s eight inaugural teams,” XFL commissioner Oliver Luck said in a press release. “We are committed to being ingrained in the local community and extremely fortunate that our teams will have world-class facilities to call home.”
Below are the eight cities XFL games will be played in when the league makes its planned return during the weekend of Feb. 8-9, 2020.
- Dallas —Globe Life Park
- Houston — TDECU Stadium
- Los Angeles — StubHub Center
- New York — MetLife Stadium
