We’ve already seen a coordinator get fired after one week of XFL action and now we’ve seen a trade before the second weekend of league action kicks off.
If you missed the news, the Los Angeles Wildcats fired defensive coordinator Pepper Johnson after the team allowed 37 points during the XFL’s opening weekend of action.
Ironically enough, the trade involves one former Alabama defender being swapped for a former LSU defender and appears to have been a result of the previously mentioned coordinator fire.
According to Jake Russell of the Washington Post, DC Defender defensive back Bradley Sylve has been traded for Los Angeles Wildcat linebacker Anthony Johnson. Sylve played his college football in Tuscaloosa from 2012 until 2015 while Johnson played in Baton Rouge from 2011 until 2013.
Rusell is reporting that Johnson was unhappy with the Wildcats following the firing of Johnson.
If the rest of the XFL season is as entertaining as the off-the-field events have been following the first weekend of gridiron action, this league has a real chance to stay in the headlines and front and center when it comes to the news during the week. Without a doubt, all news is good news for the XFL at this point as the league continues to do it’s best to remain relevant during its inaugural season.
