Xzavier McLeod, a 4-star defensive lineman out of Camden, South Carolina decided he would be staying home in college, committing to Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
McLeod chose the Gamecocks over Georgia and Michigan, among others.
“They have told me from the beginning that I can come in, make a big impact in the program, and do big things at South Carolina,” McLeod told On3 Sports on his decision to stay in South Carolina. “They have been very consistent and had a consistent message for me. It has always been about staying home and doing big things for the school close to home.”
McLeod is rated as the No. 18 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 4 prospect from the state of South Carolina. The No. 134 overall prospect in the country stands at 6-foot-5, 325 pounds and is now Beamer’s top recruit in the 2023 cycle.
McLeod is the 2nd defensive lineman in the class for the Gamecocks alongside 4-star Monteque Rhames.
