Zach Arnett dialed in to the SEC’s weekly teleconference Wednesday to, among other things, discuss the Bulldogs’ recent players-only meeting from last week.
In short, Arnett does not think the meeting was particular to last week’s blowout loss to LSU. that’s just something they’ve done as a veteran group looking to improve each week.
“They’ve done them every week and so I don’t think it’s particular to this past week. But I think it speaks to the veteran group of guys that we have in our locker room and the fact that they know that usually your best teams and best cultures you have are when it’s players led and we have those kind of guys. I’m proud to coach them and any time you’ve got a group of guys that are that invested and they take that initiative on themselves, you’ve got the right mentality in the locker room, and for that I’m fortunate as a head coach to have that in our program.”
Mississippi State can bounce back from last week’s loss to LSU with a win on the road in Columbia, South Carolina this weekend. The Bulldogs take on a Gamecocks squad that played a great first half against Georgia before the Bulldogs took over in the final 30 minutes.
The game is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
