Zach Arnett went to the podium on Tuesday for his first ever SEC Media Days on Tuesday. Arnett will be entering to his first season as HC at Mississippi State in 2023.

Arnett mentioned how much it means to him to be coaching in Starkville.

“I’m humbled and proud to be the head coach at Mississippi State University,” said Arnett. “Mississippi State has forever changed my life and my family. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people.”

Arnett coached the Bulldogs in their bowl game against Illinois shortly after Mike Leach’s passing last season. Before becoming interim HC, he was the team’s DC.

Arnett was grateful for his time spent on Leach’s staff as DC.

“I had the greatest job in all the country,” said Arnett.

The Bulldogs won the ReliaQuest Bowl 19-10 over the Fighting Illini under Arnett’s guidance. The game ended with a wild 60-yard fumble return for a score.

It will be interesting to see how Mississippi State runs its offense this season, but with QB Will Rogers back for another season it should be fun to watch.

Mississippi State will be opening the 2023 season with a home game against SE Louisiana on Sept. 2. That game will be broadcasted on SEC Network at 4 p.m. ET.
