Zach Arnett lands coaching job with ACC program, per report
Former Mississippi State coach Zach Arnett will be with Florida State in 2025, according to a report.
That’s per On3’s Pete Nakos, who reports that Arnett will serve as an analyst on FSU’s coaching staff this fall. He’ll work for Mike Norvell as the Noles try to bounce back from a disastrous 2-10 campaign last season in Tallahassee.
Arnett was previously hired as the defensive coordinator under Dan Mullen at UNLV for the 2025 season. However, Arnett stepped down from that role back in April, citing personal reasons. Arnett will now join Florida State in a less-demanding role for this upcoming season.
Arnett has a reputation of a great defensive coach. In his final season as Mississippi State’s defensive coordinator in 2022, the Bulldogs finished third in yards per play allowed. He took over as head coach following the passing of Mike Leach, but was dismissed after the 2023 campaign.
In 2024, Arnett served as analyst at Ole Miss. It remains to be seen whether or not he will pursue a defensive coordinator role again at another program in 2026, but for now he’ll be on FSU’s staff in 2025.
Florida State opens the 2025 campaign against Alabama on Aug. 30.
