Zalance Heard, 4-star lineman, top-60 overall, announces SEC commitment

Zalance Heard is the latest Louisiana prospect to keep him talents in the boot.
Heard, listed at 6-foot-5, 300 pounds and rated as the No. 9 offensive tackle in the 2023 class, committed to LSU on Thursday. The Neville (La.) High prospect also had FSU, Nebraska, Florida and Houston in his final group.
The announcement was streamed on YouTube.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Heard said after doing the traditional hat dance.
Heard is a 4-star prospect on 247 Sports and ranked as the third best prospect in Louisiana for the 2023 class. The profile evaluation on Heard says:
“Although he’s still somewhat raw in pass protection, Heard possesses the adequate foot and body quickness to acclimate quickly at the collegiate level. He also displays good play strength and ability to finish in the run game while flashing some power but can play high at times which leads to some inconsistency in that area.”
Heard gives LSU its 22nd commitment in the 2023 recruiting class. The Tigers’ class currently ranks as the 7th best in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings.
