Jac Caglianone is off to a very-encouraging start in 2025.

After being selected 6th overall in last summer’s draft, Caglianone spent the rest of the 2024 season at the High-A level in Kansas City’s organization. He struggled a bit at High-A, finishing the year with a .690 OPS.

However, he was promoted to AA to start the 2025 campaign and he’s off to a tremendous start. Caglianone hit his 2nd home run of the season on Tuesday and now has an OPS of 1.267 in the early-going. He’s hitting .375 and has 10 RBI in just 22 plate appearances on the young season.

Here’s a clip of his most recent home run:

With performances like this, it may not be long before the former Florida star is called up to Kansas City. The Royals could certainly use his left-handed power in their lineup. His hit tool has been a bit better than expected at the pro level as well. He struck out just 20% of the time last year and that number is down so far in 2025. That’s a very respectable figure for a power bat of Caglianone’s caliber.

If Caglianone does get called up to the big leagues this year, he would be one of the first players from the 2024 draft class to debut. The Royals are currently 6-5 and are expected to once again contend for a spot in the playoffs this year.
