Underdog Fantasy is jam-packed with great features ahead of the NBA Finals, which begin on Thursday night in Boston. The Celtics will do battle with the Dallas Mavericks, with Boston looking to earn its 18th title. The Mavericks, on the other hand, are looking to claim just their second-ever Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on ABC.

Just in time for the big game, Underdog Fantasy has unveiled an expanded pick’em offering. Instead of the usual maximum of 5 picks per contest, you can now make up to 8 picks for a single entry!

And, if you pack your contest with scorchers, you can craft entries with multipliers as high as 325x.

Think you’ve got an entry that can win big? Sign up for Underdog today using Underdog Promo Code SOUTH and you’ll earn a first-time deposit match worth up to $250 + a special pick:

My Picks for Celtics-Mavericks Game 1

Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics: Higher than 42.5 points+rebounds+assists

Tatum has been an elite rebounder this postseason. He’s only had 3 games through the first 3 rounds (a total of 14 games) where he hasn’t grabbed 10+ rebounds. He’s also a bad matchup for Dallas defensively, so he should score somewhere around 28-30 points tonight. Then he only needs a few assists to hit this total. I like him to get the job done.

Kyrie Irving, Dallas Mavericks: Lower than 24.0 points

Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White should all get cracks at Irving defensively in this series. That’s quite a trio of guys to throw at the slightly undersized Irving. He should still make an impact in this contest, but I don’t think he’ll reach the 24-point mark.

Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics: Higher than 17.5 points

This is a safer pick, sporting only a 0.65x multiplier. But that’s fine. Sometimes, especially in massive 8-pick entries like this one, it makes sense to have a couple of safer options. It’s all about winning, after all! I do think Brown can score 24+ points (which is his normal projection), but I’m taking him to have 18+ just to be cautious.

Derrick White, Boston Celtics: Higher than 14.5 points

The Celtics have so many potent offensive weapons, so Dallas won’t be able to dedicate a ton of energy to everyone. I think White could be the guy who slips through the cracks. If he gets a few open looks from 3-point range, he should easily hit the 15-point mark.

Kristaps Porzingis, Boston Celtics: Lower than 2.5 blocks+steals

Porzingis is returning to the lineup for the first time since injuring his calf in Game 4 of the opening round of the playoffs against Miami. He’ll likely need some time to round back into form as one of the top rim protectors in the league. I’ll take him to have 2 or fewer “stocks” tonight.

Dereck Lively II, Dallas Mavericks: Higher than 15.5 points+rebounds

Guys like Lively and PJ Washington should be able to crash the boards against Porzingis, who likely won’t be too active on the glass as he returns from a calf injury. Lively left Game 3 in the Minnesota series with an injury and missed Game 4. In the other 3 games that series, he had 17, 23 and 20 points+rebounds.

PJ Washington, Dallas Mavericks: Higher than 17.5 points+rebounds

Similar to my Lively projection, I think there are some real opportunities in this game for Washington. He’ll potentially have the added benefit of Luka finding him for some open 3-pointers.

Jaden Hardy, Dallas Mavericks: Lower than 4.5 points

As the playoffs go on, teams usually tighten their rotations. This is the NBA Finals, so it’s entirely possible only 7 guys see the court for the Mavericks in this game. What does that mean for Hardy? Well, it’ll be tough for him to find too many opportunities. I think he plays fewer than 10 minutes in Game 1 and scores 4 or fewer points.

How Many Picks Should You Make?

If you don’t want to make a full 8-picks contest, no worries. You can do between 2-8 picks through Underdog. But if you want to tail my picks, a $5 entry fee would net around $260 in winnings should all of my choices be correct:

Just make sure you have all of your picks in before tipoff at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday night. Then settle in to watch what is sure to be a thrilling Game 1 over on ABC!
