Jaxson Dart was seen as a wildcard from the 2025 NFL Draft. He flashed obvious potential in college, but his consistency sometimes lacked. However, the biggest key to his continued development was learning from Lane Kiffin and emerging as a late-first-round pick to pair with Brian Daboll. So far, Dart has wowed in the preseason.

One of the most prominent voices in sports media, Colin Cowherd, pointed out that Dart has succeeded due to the great coaches around him. That started with Kiffin at Ole Miss and learning from a coach who has made a name for himself on the offensive side of the football, dating back to his days at USC. At Ole Miss, Dart saved his best year for last, throwing for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns to only 6 interceptions, with a 69.3% completion percentage.

Dart appeared in the Giants’ first two preseason games and wowed when he came in. Through 2 outings, Dart has 291 passing yards and two touchdowns on a 74.3% completion percentage. Brian Daboll has been seen as a quarterback whisperer in college football and the NFL, and it seems like it might be paying off already.

Brian Daboll coached Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa in college football at Alabama. He also helped Josh Allen become an elite quarterback after being seen as a massive project before he entered the NFL. The Giants may have a starting-caliber quarterback on their hands, and if Dart emerges as the starter, he can thank Kiffin and Daboll for helping him get to this point.
