Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf has had elite NFL speed ever since emerging from Ole Miss in the 2019 draft, and he flashed it yet again Sunday morning against the Minnesota Vikings.
Metcalf caught a slant from future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the second quarter of the NFL Dublin Game at famed Croke Park and turned on the jets – clocking a max speed of 21.17 mph while covering over 103 yards during the 80-yard TD reception. At publishing time, Metcalf has 4 catches for 122 yards for the Steelers in the 1st half against the Vikings.
Metcalf is in his first season in Pittsburgh after an offseason trade by Seattle, and entered Sunday’s Week 5 action with 10 catches for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns. Metcalf recorded 1,000-yard receiving seasons with the Seahawks in 2020, 2022 and 2023, and his 2020 total of 1,303 yards being the second-most that season in the NFL.
Metcalf now also has 51 receiving touchdowns in his pro career, something only 142 other players in NFL history can claim. He is also 14th on the list of active wide receivers for touchdown receptions, now just 2 TD catches behind Ravens tight end Mark Edwards.
