Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel revealed on Saturday that running back De’Von Achane has a soft tissue injury in his lower body that will keep the former Texas A&M star out between “days and weeks.”

But when asked if Achane’s status for Week 1 of the NFL regular season is in jeopardy, McDaniel made clear that he’s not concerned. So, apparently Achane’s injury is serious enough to keep him out for a little while but not serious enough where McDaniel was ready to say he might be without one of his top weapons for the season opener at Indianapolis on Sept. 7.

Achane’s injury is a subject of interest for fantasy football owners, and the Yahoo Fantasy Sports social media account posted this:

Achane was a third-round pick of the Dolphins in the 2023 draft after a 3-year run at Texas A&M that culminated with being named a first-team All-SEC player in 2022.

He rushed for a combined 2,376 yards during his 3 seasons in College Station, scoring 21 rushing touchdowns. During that magical 2022 season, Achane rushed for 1,102 yards with 8 touchdowns. He added 3 touchdowns receiving that season and even scored once on a kickoff return.

The year before, Achane rushed for 910 yards and 9 touchdowns while also scoring once on a kickoff return and adding a receiving TD.

He’s rushed for 1,707 yards with 14 rushing TDs in his first 2 seasons with the Dolphins. He’s proven to be a weapon out of the backfield, too, with 789 yards receiving and 9 TDs for Miami.
