The 2025 NFL season is set to kick off this weekend, and a number of former players from across the SEC are set to suit up for their respective professional clubs, as the conference will once again feature more former players than any other conference in America.

Texas A&M in particular will have 27 different players on an active NFL roster to start the new campaign, and former star Aggies’ running back De’Von Achane is among the best as the primary ball carrier for the Miami Dolphins.

Achane has been electric for the Phins since the team drafted him in the third round back in 2023, putting up over 1,000 combined yards and 11 TDs in both of his first 2 seasons in the NFL.

There had been some concern that the former Aggie would end up missing Miami’s season opener against the Indianapolis Colts, but according to ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques, he appears to be on track to play this Sunday for the Dolphins.

Achane had been dealing with a nagging calf injury for much of camp, but Louis-Jaques reported on X that Miami head coach Mike McDaniel said that the star tailback was “absolutely” on track to play.

This is obviously very good news for both the Dolphins and fans of electric running back play everywhere. Hopefully, he’ll be full-go for what many in South Florida are hoping will be another elite season from the budding superstar.
