Former Georgia standout Leonard Floyd is coming home.
As part of the flurry of roster moves during free agency, San Francisco released Floyd early Tuesday. It did not take long for him to find a landing spot.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Floyd is signing with the Atlanta Falcons. Not only is he a former Bulldog, but he’s also a Georgia native, making his return to the Peach State extra special.
Floyd played at Georgia from 2013-15. He earned second-team All-SEC recognition in his final season before being selected No. 9 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.
Floyd spent his first 4 seasons with the Bears, making the PFWA’s All-Rookie Team for 2016. Ahead of the 2020 season, Floyd signed with the Los Angeles Rams.
It was with the Rams that Floyd collected a Super Bowl ring. The team won Super Bowl LVI for the 2021 season, defeating the Cincinnati Bengals. Floyd remained with the club through the 2022 season.
After his release in Los Angeles, Floyd landed with the Buffalo Bills. In March 2024, he signed a 2-year deal with San Francisco.
Over his career, Floyd has played in 131 regular-season games, starting all but 1. He has 62.5 career sacks, notching at least 8.5 each of the past 5 seasons.
