Jarrett Stidham leads impressive Denver TD drive to give Broncos early lead
Perhaps no man in America is under more of a microscope than Jarrett Stidham is Sunday, as the Denver Broncos’ new starting quarterback has already been largely written off by fans and media members alike.
Stidham is starting for the first time this season in place of the injured Bo Nix, and while many doubted his abilities coming into this game, the former Baylor and Auburn quarterback silenced his critics early on.
During the Broncos’ second possession of the game, Stidham guided his team down the field by first finding Marvin Mims Jr. for a 54-yard strike down the middle of the field that set Denver up inside the 10-yard line.
Then, a well-executed play-action fake fooled the New England defense on 2nd-and-goal, and Stidhman rolled out to find a wide-open Courtland Sutton for the game’s first score.
With just under 11 minutes left in the second quarter, Stidhman has completed 7-of-11 passes for 79 yards and the aforementioned touchdown. He’s also ran three times for 12 yards and has mostly outplayed Drake Maye up to this point.
Stidham is a sixth-year quarterback who was actually drafted to the Patriots in 2019. After spending two seasons in New England, Stidham made his way to Las Vegas in 2022 after spending a year out of the league. He then landed with the Broncos in 2023 and has remained with the organization ever since.
