Joe Burrow and Evan McPherson helped deliver the Bengals an AFC Divisional Playoff win over the Tennessee Titans 19-16.
The rookie McPherson made 4 field goals, including the game-winning 52-yard field goal. Burrow, on the other hand, was sacked a whopping 9 times, but he made a 19-yard pass to Ja’Marr Chase with seconds remaining to set up the game-winning field goal attempt.
McPherson has been on fire this postseason, as he’s made 8-of-8 attempts, and he drilled the game-winner.
During his postgame press conference, Burrow told a story about what McPherson said just prior to the game-winning kick.
“That guy (McPherson) is unbelievable,” Burrow said smiling. “So, he was talking to Brandon (Allen) as he was going out to kick and give him a little warmup swing. He said, ‘Ah, looks like we’re going to the AFC Championship.’
“We knew exactly what we had as soon as he walked into the building in camp. We just saw how he carried himself. You know exactly how a kicker’s going to perform. … We knew exactly what kind of guy we had in camp.”
The Bengals are headed to the AFC Championship Game for the first time since 1988.
