Sunday brought with it a new era of New York Giants football, as rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart made his first regular-season start and currently has his team leading the Los Angeles Chargers 13-3 at halftime.

But while Dart’s first-half performance was promising, the organization did see another one of its young stars exit the game due to injury.

Second-year receiver Malik Nabers had to be carted off the field after he went down with a knee injury during the second quarter, and he was in visible pain on the sideline.

The injury occurred while Nabers was fighting for a jump-ball down the sideline and appeared to pull up in mid-air. He immediately reached for his right knee, which is the leg he planted off to jump for the ball.

It has since been reported by Ian Rapoport that the belief is that Nabers tore his ACL on the play.

Up to that point in the game, the former LSU star was the Giants’ leading receiver with two catches for 20 yards.

Thus far this season, Nabers has hauled in 16 receptions for 251 yards and three touchdowns, all of which occurred with Russel Wilson at quarterback. Giants’ fans were likely hoping that Sunday would be the start of a new era behind Dart and Nabers, but that may be on hold for the foreseeable future.
