After he came up just short last weekend, Myles Garrett has finally etched his name into the NFL’s record books.

The Cleveland Browns’ star defensive end recorded his 23rd sack of the season Sunday, breaking the league’s all-time mark for sacks in a single campaign.

Garrett secured what may go down as the biggest sack of his career by using his speed to bend around a Cincinnati offensive tackle before he got hands on Joe Burrow and forced the quarterback to the ground during the fourth quarter.

The sack becomes the 125th of Garrett’s career, with him having eclipsed the double-digit mark in every season besides his rookie campaign in 2017. The former Texas A&M star reached the 16-sack mark in both 2021 and 2022 but had never flirted with 20 until this season.

Garrett’s performance was made even more important by the fact that Cleveland narrowly took home a 20-18 win over its divisional rivals, putting a positive cap on an otherwise dismal season for the Browns.

The former Aggie has appeared to be on a record trajectory since he was suiting up in College Station. Over three seasons with TAMU, Garrett racked up 32.5 sacks, 48.5 tackles for loss and 145 total tackles.
