Matt Rhule became the first NFL coach to be fired as reports surfaced on Monday that the Carolina Panthers had moved on from the coach, who was in his third season. He went 11-27 with the Panthers.

Rhule was asked about his job security after Sunday’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

“I hope you guys know I’m here to talk about the game, I’ve always been very forthright with you guys,” Rhule said. “I have nothing to say about that now.”

Rhule has already been mentioned for possible college jobs, from Arizona State to Nebraska, because of his college success at Temple and Baylor, which lifted his coaching profile that led to an NFL opportunity.
