Phil Simms managed to upset Mizzou fans everywhere on Saturday night while calling the New York Jets’ preseason game against the New York Giants.
Former Tiger Brady Cook played for the Jets in the 4th quarter. Noting Cook has done well in preseason camp, Simms indicated that the QB didn’t have a strong supporting cast at MU.
“Yeah, I’ve been impressed with Brady Cook. Free agent… From Missouri. Starter, captain of the team. Really didn’t have a great chance with their offense or their talent to shine.”

Tigers fans are quick to point out that Cook played alongside NFL Draft selections Armond Membou, Luther Burden, Theo Wease and Marcus Bryant. While Simms may have his own definition of “shine,” plenty of Mizzou fans were thrilled with Cook completing 746-of-1,139 (65.5%) passes for 9,013 yards with 49 TDs and 15 interceptions over his 5-year career and guiding the Tigers to a 21-5 record over the past 2 seasons. Cook was named Cotton Bowl Offensive MVP and Music City Bowl MVP to cap off the past 2 seasons.
As for Cook with the Jets, he threw his first NFL TD and will look to put together another strong performance in the preseason finale.
