Hugh Freeze ‘really pleased’ with QB Jackson Arnold in Auburn camp practices
As the 2025 season approaches, the spotlight on Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers‘ offense is all about transformation. Last season’s struggles with turnovers left fans wanting more, but this offseason, Freeze is retooling the offense, starting with a QB change led by Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold, a former National Gatorade Player of the Year.
Arnold transferred to Auburn seeking a fresh start after being benched. So far, Hugh Freeze likes what he sees in the first few fall camp practices.
I’m really pleased with his decision-making,” Freeze said, per AL.com. “The ball is coming out quick, and I think he’s using his legs when he doesn’t feel comfortable with what he sees and creating. Everything’s not a team period, but he’s creating explosive plays when he does move out of the pocket. He throws really well on the run.
Arnold isn’t the only key newcomer on the Tiger offense. The offensive line and receiving corps have welcomed crucial additions designed to fortify both the running game and provide Arnold with opportunities for explosive plays via RPO.
With just over 3 weeks until their season opener against Baylor on Aug. 29, all eyes are on Arnold and the Tigers as they prepare for what could be a defining year in Freeze’s tenure. The AU faithful will hope to be talking about “Arnold Aura” this fall.
