The USFL held its supplemental draft on Thursday night, and 7 former SEC players were drafted into the league.
Unlike the February selections, when teams had to pick specific positions in assigned rounds, the choices could be used on any position during the supplemental draft.
Each team now has 45 players, for a league total of 360 players. Once the season begins on April 15, each team’s active roster will have 38 players plus a seven-man practice squad.
Each team will play a 10-game regular-season in Birmingham, Alabama. Playoff semifinals between the top 2 teams in each division and a championship game between division winners will be played in Canton, Ohio.
The teams are the Birmingham Stallions, Houston Gamblers, New Orleans Breakers, and Tampa Bay Bandits in the South Division; and the Michigan Panthers, New Jersey Generals, Philadelphia Stars, and Pittsburgh Maulers in the North Division.
The new USFL’s season will begin on April 15, when the Generals will play the Stallions in a game that will be nationally televised on both NBC and FOX.
