Dallas Cowboys fans showed their frustration late Sunday evening by throwing trash on the field following the loss to the San Francisco 49ers in a game that was decided in the final seconds.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys had one last-gasp chance with 32 seconds remaining at the 49ers’ 41-yard line with 14 seconds remaining. Prescott ran a draw play, and intended to spike the ball at the 24, but the clock ran out before an official could set the ball.

Prescott engineered an efficient drive before the would-be spike. The Cowboys completed a hook-and-lateral play for 20 yards, then TE Dalton Schultz gained 9 yards before he stepped out of bounds with 14 seconds remaining.

When Prescott slid at the end of his 17-yard run, there were 8 seconds to go, but the umpire couldn’t squeeze between Cowboys linemen in order to set the ball.
