Damar Hamlin was released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Monday, and has traveled to Buffalo, doctors reported at a press conference on Monday.

“I can confirm he is doing well and this is the beginning of the next stage of his recovery,” Dr. William Knight said.

Hamlin, the Buffalo Bills safety, was in critical condition since Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals when he suffered cardiac arrest during a tackle in the first quarter. He had a breathing tube removed on Friday morning. He was in the surgical intensive care unit until the transfer, Knight said.

“We felt it was safe and proper to get him back to the greater Buffalo area,” Knight said, and added that he wanted to make sure each organ system is stable, and he no longer needed a high level of nursing care.

Knight also added that Hamlin jumped up and set off every alarm in the ICU during the Bills’ first kickoff touchdown on Sunday.
