Damar Hamlin had a scary end to his 2022 season, collapsing on the field during a terrifying scene in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. After a sustained stay in the hospital, Hamlin has been on his road to recovery ever since.
The topic of Hamlin returning to action has surfaced, but there has been no official update on his playing status until Tuesday. Now, Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane has shared where things stand with Hamlin moving forward.
According to Beane, Hamlin has been cleared to resume full activities after meeting with medical specialists. Hamlin has been fully cleared “just like anyone else.” Beane even announced Hamlin is in the building Tuesday working out with the team.
Bills GM Brandon Beane gives a fantastic update on Damar Hamlin. Says doctors are all in agreement, “all in lockstep of what this was and he’s cleared to resume full activities just like anyone else. He’s fully cleared and he’s here… He is working out.”

Considering how scary things looked for Hamlin just months ago, it is remarkable to see him cleared to resume football activities. As of now, it sounds like the target will be for Hamlin to see the field in 2023.
Prior to his injury, Hamlin had started 13 games last season and was a key performer with 91 total tackles and 6 TFL for the Bills.
