A fan ran on the field and briefly delayed action in the Super Bowl.
With both teams on the field following an interception of Matthew Stafford by the Cincinnati Bengals, a fan ran nearly the length of the field before being stopped by security. The fan appeared to have a sheet or a towel and was stopped just inside the 20-yard-line.
The incident came after Tee Higgins scored on a 75-yard touchdown, and then Ben Skowronek made the interception of Stafford. Higgins’ touchdown was the longest pass TD in a Super Bowl since Jake Delhomme and Muhsin Muhammad connected on an 85-yard score in Super Bowl XXXVIII, the longest ever pass TD in a Super Bowl, per the NFL.
After a brief skirmish following a rough Aaron Donald tackle of Joe Burrow, the Bengals settled for a 38-yard field goal from Evan McPherson to give the Bengals a 20-13 lead.
