Jaire Alexander suspended for 1 game by Green Bay Packers following peculiar stunt

Jaire Alexander was suspended by the Green Bay Packers Wednesday afternoon for a truly peculiar reason, defined as “conduct detrimental to the team.”
The former Louisville defensive back will miss Green Bay’s Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings for participating in the Packers’ coin toss despite not being a designated captain.
Immediately, you’d think Alexander simply made a mistake and this is a harsh punishment. But Alexander appears to have done this on his own accord knowing full well he was not a captain based on the below video, which came out on December 24 after the game.
For what it’s worth, Alexander won the coin toss:
Jaire Alexander wasn’t announced by the Packers as a game captain, but he went out for the coin toss anyway. And called it. And won it. And almost messed it up.
Sounds like he just did it on his own.

Alexander has struggled some recently for the Packers, but his loss is still likely to be felt as the Packers make a final push for the playoffs. Green Bay sits at 7-8 on the season and must win its final 2 games while receiving some help from opponents of the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams.
