NFL playoff games are set to begin this weekend, but one of the games will not be played in the originally scheduled location. The Los Angeles Rams won the NFC West division and earned the right to host a home playoff game.
However, due to the tragic wildfires tearing through the Los Angeles area, the NFL has decided to move the Wild Card matchup. Instead of playing at SoFI Stadium in Southern California, the game will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The NFL released the following statement on the decision:
“In the interest of public safety, Monday’s Vikings-Rams Wild Card game has been moved from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA to State Farm Stadium, the home of the Arizona Cardinals, the NFL announced today. The decision was made in consultation with public officials, the participating clubs, and the NFLPA.”
The league added that the game will still take place at the scheduled time of 8:00 p.m. ET. Inglewood and Glendale are just over 6 hours away from each other and fans who wish to attend can begin purchasing tickets at 10 a.m. ET Friday.
The Rams are the No. 4 seed in the NFC while the Vikings are the No. 5 seed. Even though the Vikings went 14-3 and the Rams went 10-7, the Vikings are a lower seed thanks to playing in the same division as the No. 1-seed Detroit Lions.
