Former 5-star Clemson QB Hunter Johnson is now at Northwestern, and after sitting out a year, he’s ready to compete for the starting job.
On Wednesday, he was asked about the talent levels of both programs, and he had a very interesting comment.
At the 4-minute mark of the below video, uploaded to YouTube by Northwestern Athletics, Johnson says the Wildcats’ talent level is on-par with Clemson’s:
“I think, talent-wise, we’ve got very similar talent,” he said.
Credit to coach Pat Fitzgerald for developing talent at Northwestern. He got the Wildcats to the Big Ten title game last year, but they were trounced by Ohio State.
Northwestern signed all 3-star recruits in their 2019 class, while Clemson had 1 5-star player and 12 4-star guys in their 2019 class, so the talent level may be just slightly different, though.
