Notre Dame basketball received a big recruiting win on Wednesday.

The Fighting Irish beat out Indiana and Michigan State for 5-star forward Jalen Haralson. Haralson becomes the highest-rated recruit in Notre Dame history.

Haralson stars for La Lumiere School in La Porte, IN. The forward is rated as the No. 13 prospect in the country and the No. 1 prospect in Indiana per the 247Sports Composite ranking.

Here’s video of his announcement:

“This decision was very hard. It took a long time,” said Haralson. “But, I’ll be taking my talents to Notre Dame,” said the star athlete, as he unveiled a Notre Dame shirt underneath his jacket.

Haralson has ideal size for a wing, sporting a 6-foot-10 wingspan. The young wing receives high grades for his rebounding and defending and feels most comfortable with the ball in his hands.

With Haralson’s commitment, the Irish now have the No. 5 class in 2025. The other commitment the Irish currently have is from 4-star SF Brady Koehler.

Micah Shrewsberry is hoping his Irish squad can improve in 2024-25 after ending with a 13-20 record last season.
